Orphan Victoria Sax receives the shock of her life when diplomats from the Kingdom of Saxheim arrive at school and announce that the girl is a Grand Duchess, and now one of the richest heiresses in the world. She is transported to Europe where she is to marry Prince Caryl, whom she has never met. En route Victoria and Prince Caryl meet and fall in love, however, neither reveals their true identity. Believing that he is in love with a commoner, the Prince abdicates his crown, and goes off to search for Victoria. Because Caryl has relinquished his title, Victoria is whisked away to marry Prince Boris, the king's loathesome brother, whom the girl detests. Former Prince Caryl learns of his folly too late, and launches a desperate plan to free the woman he loves before she is married to a scoundrel.
