Winter Meeting

Bette Davis is a successful poetess who falls in love with a war hero in this romantic melodrama. But even though opposites do attract, sometimes the love is not meant to be. When Susan Grieve (Davis) and Slick Novak (James Davis) meet on a blind date his blind date with her friends secretary they discover a mutual attraction that takes them both by surprise. Slick finds himself more enamored with the rich, subdued Susan than the beautiful, aggressive secretaryand Susan finds love for the first time in her life. However, after a whirlwind romance, Slick reveals his desire to become a priest and abruptly leaves her. When they meet again, Susan, sensing his sincerity, is able to let him go. But his impact on her life is two-fold and leads her to a reconciliation with her estranged mother. Based on the novel by Ethel Vance and costarring Janis Paige (Silk Stockings) and John Hoyt (Blackboard Jungle), Winter Meeting is a moving film experience any time of year.
