Wilma stars Shirley Jo Finney (Echo Park, Nuts) as Americas first female superstar athlete, and captures her courageous triumph over the crippling effects of poverty, childhood paralysis, and racial segregation. Featuring an all-star cast including Cicely Tyson (Fried Green Tomatoes, Roots) and Academy Award winning actor Denzel Washington, this film tells the amazing true story of one womans battle to overcome the physical and social adversities that threatened to confine her, and chronicles her rise to become Americas darling and an international superstar.
