It is a world in which children lead normal lives by day and are overcome by their demons at night. Peace and tranquility are only found when sitting under the Domim tree. This long overdue sequel to Aviya's Summer (1988) delves deeper into Gila Almagor's chronicles of growing up in the shadow of the Holocaust. Aviya (Kaipo Cohen) is now a teenager living on a kibbutz, whose father is long deceased and whose mother is institutionalized. Together, Aviya and other troubled teens grapple with their issues of pain, loss, and burgeoning sexuality. With masterful direction by Eli Cohen (The Quarrel, Summer of Aviya) and wonderful performances by Kaipo Cohen and Gila Almagor, Under the Domim Tree is a moving celebration of the human spirit that brings "a lump to the throat and unstoppable tears to the eyes" (Michael Medved, New York Post).
