Rough Cut - Woodworking With Tommy Mac - Console Table
Season two of the Emmy Award-nominated ROUGH CUT returns to the workshop of fine furniture maker Tommy MacDonald, a graduate of Boston's famed North Bennet Street School. Once again, Tommy instructs and inspires aspiring woodworkers and master crafters alike, sharing his experience, his secrets, and his enthusiasm, inviting everyone with an interest in woodworking to acquire the basic skills and the tools to go beyond.
In Console Table, Tommy demonstrates how to create a beautiful, must-have piece of furniture for every home: an HDTV stand and console table, with an emphasis on wood-bending. Then Tommy travels to New York City to visit the Brooklyn Museum where he meets with the curator, an expert in the work of the Thonets--famous for perfecting the technique of steam-bent lamination. Back in the shop, Tommy gets a visit from Eli Cleveland.
Featured in Forbes Magazine, Fine Woodworking Magazine, and The Boston Globe, Tommy's work has been displayed at the Massachusetts Historical Society, the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, and at the Concord Museum.
