Return from India tells the story of a young doctor, Ben Rubin (Aki Avni) who agrees to accompany the Hospital Administrator, his boss, Abe Lazar (Asi Dayan) and his wife Dori (Riki Gal), on a trip to India to rescue their dying daughter, Einat (Orli Perl). The magic of India, the unusual relationship between the Administrator and his wife, and Dori's veiled advances are forces too powerful for the young doctor to resist.

Caught in the spell of extraordinary Bombay, Ben and Dori embark on a tempestuous affair, and after one exceptional night Ben falls madly in love. When they return to Israel, Dori rejects Ben's advances and advises him to find a younger woman. But Ben is obsessed. He refuses to let her go and starts to live in two worlds, one imaginary and the other real.
