Randolph Scott Collection
With an enduring legacy as a Western hero, 6ft 2in Randalph Scott was one of the silver screen's greatest drawcards. With over 100 films credits to his name Scott's cinematic career was varied, but it was the western and action genres that defined his image with moviegoers--the 'strong, silent' hero.
From the way-out west action of Santa Fe, The Texans and Gunfighters, to Howard Hawks' sea drama Corvette K-225, this collection brings together 8 films from Randolph Scott showcasing his trademark stoic calmness, with a hint of steel.
THE TEXANS (1938): After the Civil War, an ex-Confederate soldier faces new battles, including the elements and a carpetbagger intent on destroying him.
WHEN THE DALTONS RODE (1940): Tod Jackson (Randolph Scott) is a lawyer passing through the frontier. In Kansas, he decides to pay a visit to the Daltons, a family he knew during his youth. He arrives to discover that the family is in crisis. A ruthless development company wants to use their land for railroad expansion. Bob Dalton (Broderick Crawford), accused on false murder charges, asks Tod to defend him in court. A violent courtroom confrontation turns the Daltons into outlaws, and they are forced to go on the run.
CORVETTE K-225 (1943): During World War II, the commander of a Canadian warship heads a convoy on a perilous voyage to Russia. The naval officer makes a pact to protect Paul Cartwright, who died on the former vessel, as long as he shall live.
GUNFIGHTERS (1947): In Texas, gunfighter Brazos Kane (Randolph Scott) decides to lay down his guns for good and rides out to visit his best friend--only to witness his murder. When Brazos takes the body to the nearby ranch of the powerful Banner (Griff Barnett), the rancher accuses him of the murder. Brazos leaves Banner's daughter, Bess (Barbara Britton), a vital piece of evidence in the crime, and then must evade Banner and a crooked sheriff as he reluctantly takes up arms to prove his innocence.
CORONER CREEK (1948): After his fiancee is killed in the stagecoach raid, which also saw a large army payroll go missing, a gunman vows to track down the man responsible, a seemingly upstanding citizen with far-reaching influence in the town.
THE DOOLINS OF OKLAHOMA (1949): Former Dalton gang member Bill Doolin puts together his own bank-robbing gang but federal Marshals are closing in.
THE WALKING HILLS (1949): During a poker game in a Mexican bar, a group of men discover the location of a lost wagon train--and its cargo of gold. To prevent one man from cheating the rest, it's decided that they will find it together. Among them are horse breeder Jim Carey (Randolph Scott) and rodeo rider Shep Wilson (William Bishop); like their cohorts in the treasure hunt, they share a tangled history--Chris Jackson (Ella Raines), Shep's current sweetheart, is Jim's old flame. Greed and suspicion soon break out.
SANTA FE (1951): Three brothers become outlaws after the Civil War, while a fourth sibling goes to work for the railroad.
