Pygmalion
Based on a classical myth, Pygmalion has become a classic of the contemporary stage and screen. Writing the screenplay for the film version of Pygmalion in 1938 helped Shaw to become the first and only man ever to win both the Nobel Prize for literature and an Academy Award. Pygmalion is perhaps best known in its musical form My Fair Lady.
Starring Lynn Redgrave as Eliza Dolittle, this charming BBC production captures the complexities of human relationships in a social world. Phonetics professor Henry Higgins tutors the painfully lower class Eliza Dolittle in speech as well as manner.
