The critically acclaimed 1978 classic drama series The Paper Chase brought the emotionally and intellectually challenging first year experience at an Ivy League law school and the tough-as-nail professor Charles W. Kingsfield to life.

Starring legendary actor John Houseman (NobelHouse, Silverspoon), reprising his Oscar and Golden Globe Award-winning role from the motion picture The Paper Chase, James Stephens (Father Dowling Mysteries, Murder She Wrote), Tom Fitzsimmons (All My Children) and James Keane (7th Heaven), The Paper Chase premiered on CBS in 1978 and received an extraordinary reception from critics and fans alike. The show reran on PBS for a couple of years until Showtime picked it up (with much of the original cast) and continued on for three more seasons.

Marking 31 years after the initial premiere on network television, Twentieth Century Fox Television’s The Paper Chase: Season One, brimming with all 22 memorable one-hour episodes, finally debuts on DVD for the first time on April 7 from Shout! Factory. Notable guest stars from the First Season include Marilu Henner, Kim Cattral, Denise Nicholas, Robert Reed, June Havoc and Ken Olin.

Rural Minnesotan James T. Hart (James Stephens) is unprepared for the life of a first-year law student at an Ivy League law school. On his first day, in his first class, he elicits the ire of revered and feared professor of contract law, Charles W. Kingsfield (John Houseman). But Hart is committed and smart. In order to keep up with the never-ending workload, Hart joins a study group for support. Each episode explores the trials and tribulations, the successes and failures, the competition and camaraderie the students face.
