When John Carter "The Salamander" is assigned by the president of the energy company he works for-Consolidated Oil-to handle a large oil fire in the Saraha Desert, John expects to do what he does best-subdue the blaze. But he soon discovers that sometimes the powers that be don't want the fires to go out, but will do anything to keep them burning. Time is short and it looks like the crosshairs are beginning to train on him...
