More than two decades after dropping out of school, Alice Washington (Cybil Shepherd, Moonlighting) rebounds from a divorce by enrolling in Smith College to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher. A housing shortage places her with a much younger roommate, rebellious piano student Zoe (Corri English, lead singer of BrokeDown Cadillac), who thinks she has enough difficulty in her life already.
