A young woman is dead. And while investigating suspicious deaths is just one more part of Sheriff Aaron Whitaker's job, there is something sinister about this case. Something unsettling and visceral. The victim's brother, Lawrence Burrifors, rages about the crime having been committed by his sister's lover; others believe ravenous, wild dogs are to blame. But as the body count rises in town, the pressure mounts for Whitaker to find and stop whoever-or whatever-is ravaging their idyllic community.
