Maryland

MaryLand is a story about two sisters, about what binds them together and what has driven them apart. Becca (Suranne Jones, Gentleman Jack) and Rosaline (Eve Best, House of the Dragon) find themselves thrown together by the sudden death of their mother, Mary.

As the sisters travel through the early days of grief, they meet their mother’s quirky friend Cathy (Stockard Channing, Grease) who seems to know more about their mother than they do.

Trapped on the Isle of Man with each other, the sisters can’t escape the ripple effect of their mother’s decisions. As they discover layer after layer of Mary’s secrets, this brings all the dynamics, emotions and tensions of their relationship into sharp focus. Becca and Rosaline find themselves asking fundamental questions about their identities. Mary’s death offers them a chance to not only reframe their relationship but fundamentally reshape who they are. At its heart, MaryLand is a love story between two sisters. (2023)
