Mark Of The Gun

Filmed by legendary cinematographer Laszlo Kovacs just prior to his breakthrough work in Easy Rider, Ross Hagen's Mark Of The Gun languished lost and forgotten in a Hollywood film vault for over forty years. Just prior to his death in 2011 Hagen discovered its whereabouts and rescued this early work from almost certain cinematic oblivion. Seen here in all its Black & White splendor is a quirky little low-budget tale of a drifter who joins a band of outlaws and their women. His real-life wife, Claire Polan, under the name of Gabrielle St. Claire, plays his love interest here. Character actor, Buck Kartalian, turns in a comedic performance for first time director, Wally Campos, who was primarily an actor in low-budget films like Roger Corman's Little Shop Of Horrors.
