Maria And Napoleon
From the pages of history comes this dramatic tale of forbidden passion and political intrigue by veteran Polish filmmaker Leonard Buczkowski (Treasure).
In 1807, Napoleon meets and falls in love with 22-year-old Polish countess Marie Walewska, who is unhappily married to a much older man. Enchanted by the blonde, blue-eyed countess, the emperor begins a passionate affair. More than just a pretty face, Marie uses the relationship to induce Napoleon to treat her country fairly.
Maria and Napoleon represents the mature work of filmmaker Buczkowski, who was greatly respected for directing Forbidden Songs, the first film from the Polish film industry after World War II.
