March Or Die

March Or Die is a classic action-adventure film in the tradition of Beau Geste. It's 1918 and a war-weary Major (Gene Hackman), with a ragtag squadron of young legionnaires, is assigned to a remote Moroccan outpost. Their mission is to secure a French government archaeological dig that is looting an ancient tomb of its Arab treasure. The troops presence is not at all welcome by the Arab chieftain El Krim (Ian Holm), who vows to expel the French intruders at any cost. But the French steadfastly refuse to leave. After a series of skirmishes, the film concludes with an epic battle between the two forces. (1977)
