Macho Dancer

Abandoned by his American lover, a handsome teenager from the mountains journeys to Manilla in an effort to support his family. With a popular call boy as his mentor, Paul enters the glittering world of the "Macho Dancer" - a world of male strippers, prostitution, drugs, sexual slavery, police corruption and murder. Teeming with sex and Asian beefcake, Macho Dancer is a seering indictment of the hypocrisy and police corruption rampant among the most realistic, non-judgemental motion pictures about male prosititution ever made.

When Macho Dancer was first released theatrically, Fillpino censors severely edited many of the film's most explicit moments. This version is mastered from the sole surviving 35MM print of director Lino Brocka's original version, uncut and uncensored, smuggled out of the Philippines and shown to a limited number of international film festivals. This print is now part of the permanent collection at The Museum of Modern Art in New York.
