Jackson Hole Story
The fascinating tale behind Grand Teton National Park
It's a story wild enough to have been ripped from the pages of Old West fiction - it's The Jackson Hole Story, previously seen on public television. When President Calvin Coolidge signed a bill establishing Grand Teton National Park in 1929 - a 96,000-acre area protecting the Teton Range and six glacial lakes at the base of the mountains - he satisfied much of the community. But there were others who had always dreamed of making the park even bigger.
See how this political battle over public and private land shaped Jackson Hole. Watch footage of breathtaking scenery, see archival photos and vintage 8mm film, and hear the story from a cast of interesting characters, including former Wyoming governor and U.S. senator Cliff Hansen, dude rancher Jack Huyler, long0time residents Bob Kranenberg and Virginia Huidekoper, and outdoorsmen Bill Briggs and Frank Ewing. Featuring narration by Babe Humphrey of the Bar J Wranglers band.
