Honor Deferred
In fact, while more than a million African-Americans served in the armys segregated ranks in WWII, not one of the 432 congressional Medals of Honor awarded went to a black soldier. Was the army racist? Did African-Americans receive appropriate training?
Narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, Honor Deferred takes up these questions by tracing the stories of seven men who deserved the Medal of Honor, but only recently received it. Witness breathtaking reenactments of the men in action, as well as stirring footage of the awards ceremony in which President Clinton presented the medal to Vernon Baker - the last living awardee - and the proud family members of the other six honored soldiers.
