Grey Wolves - U-Boats 1939-1941

During WWII Winston Churchill famously described Hitler´s Grey Wolves as his greatest fear, and the stealthy U-boat was indeed a terrifying prospect. It quickly became the biggest threat to the UK, cutting the country off from vital supply routes and almost starving it into submission. This documentary traces the escalation of the U-boat war, with striking images collected from German archives. Much of the footage was captured by German cameras, and is reaching a broader audience here for the first time, illustrating a slice of history both fascinating and horrific.
