Great Garrick

The inns service is rude, even quarrelsome. Is this any way to treat a guest who is the most respected Shakespearean of his day? It is if youre part of a theatrical group posing as innkeepers and trying to give the renowned but pompous David Garrick his comeuppance. Garrick, however, is aware of the ruse. And hes convinced that the young, recently arrived countess who seems to be falling in love with him is the worst actress of the bunch. But thats where the great one goes wrong: Shes not part of the troupe at all. All the worlds a stage and there are many fine players in it in this gleeful backstage costume comedy: Olivia de Havilland (as the countess), Brian Aherne (Garrick) and a clever ensemble.
