Golden Key

This marvelous Russian fantasy is similar to Pinocchio. It's a combination of live action and animation and it's filled with fantastic characters and magical moments. The climax is quite memorable, featuring a magnificent airborne sailing ship. Cool. Some of this is reminiscent of George Pal's stop-motion animation shorts of the '30s and '40s. A wonderful music score compliments the proceedings. (1939)
