Godspeed To Jamestown
In 1607, the sailing ship Godspeed played an important yet largely overlooked role in American history. She was one of three ships that carried settlers to the Jamestown colony, the first permanent British settlement in North America. Then she disappeared from the pages of history. As part of The History Channels Save Our History initiative, Godspeed to Jamestown follows the construction of a full size replica of the three-masted ship. The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation has commissioned the building of the new replica to help commemorate Jamestowns 400th anniversary. Host Steve Thomas guides viewers through the 18-month process, from the laying of the keel to her first days at sea, exploring the combination of old world craftsmanship and modern technology used to put the ship together.
