Flat Top

This WW II drama tells the tale of the adversarial relationship between Dan Collier, a hard-nosed CO and his group of Navy pilots in training as he attempts to teach the men the ins and outs of flying aboard the aircraft carrier Princeton. The men hate Collier because he is such a stickler for rules and insists on perfection. Collier is further hindered by Joe Rodgers, the easy-going commander of a rival air group aboard the ship. Both groups must constantly fight the Japanese air attacks as they sail through the South Pacific (many of the fight scenes are comprised of actual combat footage). After the war, Collier´s pilots come to realize that he was strict and rough with them to help ensure their survival during their dangerous and difficult battles.
