Five years after the death of her beloved husband, Nikki (Annette Bening) meets Tom (Ed Harris), a man who looks like he could be her late husband's exact double. Tom is kind, humorous, a passionate artist... and yet he is a stranger. As romance blossoms between Nikki and Tom, she finds she can't bring herself to tell him the truth about what first drew her to him. And when their relationship deepens, it becomes not a question of "if" the truth will come out, but when, and what then?
