In South Africa is a sanctuary for chimpanzees, rescued from the horrors of human captivity. Many of these chimps have never felt grass under their feet, never learned to climb a tree, have never known companionship. At the Jane Goodall Institute´s Chimp Eden, they are given the safe environment they need to become ordinary, wild chimps again. Overseeing the sanctuary is Eugene Cussons, who travels to war-torn African countries to rescue chimps no one else is willing to save. Acting like a surrogate parent, he spends countless hours teaching them basic skills like climbing trees and foraging for food. Each lesson builds a bond of friendship and rewards us with compelling stories of rescue and rehabilitation.
