This landmark and controversial Czech drama made teenage Hedy Lamarr a global sensation, thanks to her famous nude swim scene. Lamarr (billed as Hedy Kiesler, her birth name) plays a free-willed child bride who flees from a loveless marriage to an older man and then has an affair with a young engineer of a construction crew.
