Dragonwyck

Joseph L. Mankiewicz ("All About Eve") made his directorial debut with this chiller based on Anya Seton's best-seller. Gene Tierney stars as Miranda Wells, a naive 19th-century Connecticut farm girl who goes to live with her distant cousin Nicholas Van Ryn (Vincent Price) at his spooky New York mansion. Once there, Miranda falls for Nicholas and soon has her innocence shattered by her bizarre new home at Dragonwyck Manor. (1946)
