As leader of Mexico's feared Sinaloa Cartel, he was considered the most powerful drug lord in history at the height of his reign. Twice escaping from custody in Mexican jails, authorities finally caught up with El Chapo for the final time during his highly-publicised 2016 arrest and extradition to the United States.
