Candles At Nine

Laughs and chills abound in this thriller starring popular British musical star Jessie Matthews as a young chorus girl who has to spend a night in a "haunted house" in order to inherit a fortune from an eccentric great-uncle she never knew. While trying to pass the hours with a detective hired to protect her, she has to contend with problems caused by her greedy relatives and the estate's resentful housekeeper. (1944)
