A lost classic of Mexican film

Part musical, part crime noir, Aventurera is an outrageous Mexican classic, which was recently revived, and dazzled art house audiences across the U.S. Left alone after her mother runs off with another man and her father shoots himself, Elena (Ninon Sevilla) attempts to make a new life for herself. Her luck goes from bad to worse when she is forced to work as a dancer. As a dancer, she causes a sensation, although she still plots revenge and escape.
