Episode 1 - Lionel is feeling brave and provocative, giving Jean cause for concern. Lionel's pride is severely dented, not only because of Jean's reaction, but also because he has tried - and failed - to open a jar of pickled onions.

Episode 2 - While Lionel is "quite content with doing very little slowly," Jean is bringing work home with her and irritating Judy and Sandy in the office. Meanwhile, Alistair is in for a disappointment.

Episode 3 - The Hardcastles are expecting Penny and Stephen for dinner, and Jean, surrounded by dilemmas, finds it a most inconvenient time to be in the company of her intimidating sister in law.

Episode 4 - During a weekend at Rocky and Madge's house, Jean and Lionel try to get to the root of what has been causing the faithful Mrs. Bale to act decidedly fractious towards them.

Episode 5 - Jean and Lionel return from the country to find that Paul, Judith's boyfriend, has been staying in their house. Meanwhile, Alistair announces his engagement and invites his friends to meet his intended.

Episode 6 - When Mr. Carter announces he's selling his house, Lionel and Jean look forward to the prospect of new neighbors. That is, until they find out exactly who may be moving in next door.

Episode 7 - Jean feels her life is mundane and uneventful and she wants Lionel to come up with a suitable surprise to pep things up. Little does she know just how big of a surprise he has up his sleeve.
