Vanessa Brent is an effervescent artist who has been commissioned to paint a mural for a local hospital in the town of Rust Creek. Nate Dalton, an architectural engineer heading up an expansion of the same hospital, is in town not only for the job but also to mend after a painful divorce. When the two meet they are instantly drawn to each other despite having some reservations. As they grow closer, we learn that Vanessas lust for life is masking a heartbreaking medical secret. This budding romance comes to a halt when Vanessa is faced with medial issues and Nate's past comes back to haunt him.
