Adventures Of Champion The Wonder Horse

Inspired by the popular Gene Autry radio show of the 1940s, The Adventures of Champion television series takes its name from the famous singing cowboy’s beautiful horse, Champion, a mustang running with a wild herd in the American Southwest of the 1880s. Autry’s Flying A Studios and Gene Autry himself produced the series.

Ricky North (Barry Curtis), who like amy body, has a nose for trouble and adventure, lives on a ranch with his Uncle Sandy (Jim Bannon) and his faithful German Shepherd, Rebel. Ricky and the wild stallion develop a bond, and while Champion runs free, only Ricky can summon him with a whistle from the remuda. Time after time, Ricky, Champion and Rebel are faced with danger and risks that arise on the frontier, and it is Champion, a horse of great intelligence and speed, that often saves the day! No matter what scrapes Ricky manages to get himself into, the Wonder Horse and Rebel are on hand to save the day.

The Adventures of Champion is a great family entertainment, in the tradition of Fury and My Friend Flicka, which replaced Champion at the end of its run. These 10 exciting episodes bring the Old West alive, as Champion, Ricky and Rebel team up to take on all comers!

Disc 1:

The Saddle Tramp - Grubsteak Smith, an aging prospector, is the only thing standing between Ricky and a band of murderous rustlers.

Crossroad Trail - Ricky is blinded in a fall while fleeing from a pair of crooked ranch hands (one of whom is played by a very youthful Lee Van Cleef).

Salted Ground - A girl plans to swindle her father and tricks Sandy and Rick into helping her.

The Medicine Man Mystery - A boy is accused of stealing and Ricky tries to prove he’s innocent, even to the extreme of getting an old tribal mystic involved.

Hangman’s Noose - When a neighbor is framed for murder, Ricky and Champion set out to prove his innocence.

Disc 2:

The Deer Hunter - Ricky must deal with hunters who are not happy when Ricky releases their young fawn that he finds caught in a trap.

Bad Men Of The Valley - Sandy North’s new neighbor seems to bring trouble to the town. But Rebel and Champion help Ricky to find the real villains.

Brand Of The Lawless - Outlaws ambush the marshals taking their gang to territorial prison, and devise a plan to take over neighbor Tram’s oil discovery.

Andrew And the Deadly Double - Mary Jane’s Uncle Andrew comes to the ranch to take her back east, but Ricky and Champion take up her cause.

The Stone Heart - A gang of counterfeiters shoot their partner, leaving him for dead. But Champion and Ricky take him to safety, putting them and Uncle Sandy in danger!
